For the third consecutive year, the Council spearheaded its signature civic engagement initiative where Muslims from all across the state travelled to Springfield to advocate for issues that can benefit all Illinoisans, not just Muslims. From equitable education and introducing strategic languages to protecting the environment and supporting an Illinois DREAM Act, Muslim-Americans made an impact when on March 9, 2011, more than 700 students and 500 adults from the city and suburbs of Chicago rallied for the common good.
